The Purple Lip

PRODUCTS USED: Ted Baker lip crayon // Naked 2 palette // Benefit Hoola Bronzer // Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation // Eshiko Translucent Powder // Maybelline Rocket Mascara

A few months ago, I would have said that this look was totally un-me but somehow I think that the combination really works. As you may already know,I had my hair and coloured into a bob with a subtle, cool blonde ombré effect not long ago.

I love to sweep the top of my hair back for this half-up, half-down look and I think that it goes with this makeup look perfectly. I wanted my skin to look pale (not difficult for me), and I contoured my cheeks lightly with no blush whatsoever. The lips are really the focus of this look, and the product that I used is pretty dreamy. My Ted Baker lip crayons are becoming a fast favourite for their intensely pigmented colours, lasting power and super easy application. The only other thing that I did to my lips was to pat some translucent powder over the top (as well as on my skin), as I wanted everything to be matte. I like to think that this is an edgy, slightly gothic look. Maybe you’ll disagree, but I’m in love with the effect and the vampy lips are exactly what it needed.

I used some orangey tones from my Naked 2 palette to clash with the purple lips and create some subtle smoke around my ever-so-slightly flicked liner. I didn’t want anything too thick to pull attention away from the lips, especially since my eyes are a little small and slightly hooded.

Sometimes it really pays to step out of your comfort zone. I’m still not entirely sure when I’ll be wearing this. For me it’s definitely a look for being in the city... even if I only got to sport mine on trip to the supermarket!

Do you ever just play around with your makeup look?
Is there a look you'd love to try but are afraid you wouldn't be able to pull it off?
