The Chop

Before . . . // . . . After

I'd been toying with the idea of cutting my hair shorter for a fair few months. I have had long hair for as long as I've been able to (to little Emily's great distress, my hair decided to stay shoulder length until I was about eleven). So, when I was kindly given a complementary cut from Neo at NeoStar Studio in return for some work that I'd previously done for them, it seemed like the perfect opportunity. It was definitely time for a change, and just in time for my new job!

It was a lovely way to spend my Friday afternoon; in the lovely, open space at NeoStar feeling thoroughly pampered. The hair washing station even had a foot rest so that you could lie fully back! Of course the relaxation was helped a lot by the glass of wine that I was treated to. My blow dry was also just in time for one of the last parties of term which was much appreciated. Now I just need to work out how to recreate the look in my own home.

So, as someone who had until now been so precious about their length, what convinced me to take the plunge? I'll be honest, I'm still not 100% sure whether I like it better than my long hair yet, but I'm still pleased that I'm giving it a go.

Some pictures that inspired my cut. Image source: Pinterest.

01 Lower maintenance - OK, the style hasn't changed that much, but it should be quicker to dry at least, right?!

02 It looks pretty grown up - I'm don't want to look aged, but I am about to start a big girl job!

03 It's hair, it'll grow back! - Somebody had to remind me of this. If I don't like it, it's not a forever change.

04 A woman who cuts her hair is about to change her life - This seemed cheesily appropriate for the big life change that is about to happen. No I'm not pregnant... If you don't know what I'm talking about, you'll just have to wait for my next post! ;)

What are your thoughts? Any new hairstyles that I should try with my new, shorter hair?
