Lipstick Chat: YSL Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy

It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, but they’re great fun to do, and what better way to get back into them that by showing you my (dare I say it) all time favourite lipstick? For now at least. YSL lipsticks are well known for their divine packaging, and there’s no denying that I feel pretty chic grabbing my YSL Rouge Volupte Sheer Candy out of my handbag for a touchup, but my love for this lipstick goes far beyond the aesthetics.

The next thing you notice about this lipstick is definitely the scent. I’m not a huge fan of products being unnecessarily perfumed, so I never thought that I would be one to go for a scented lipstick. Surprisingly, I find this scent quite pleasant; it’s a very light, sweet fragrance and my lips have never reacted to it at all. In fact, quite the opposite - my pout love this stuff! One of the reasons that I wear it so often is for its moisturising properties. Being from YSL’s ‘Sheer Candy’ range, it’s also very light and.. you guessed it; sheer. This makes it ideal for everyday wear, and I think that the sheer formula works even better with the glossy finish of the lipstick than my other YSL lipstick.

Another aspect of this lipstick that makes it to die for, is of course its colour. I have the shade 'Tasty Raspberry'; a natural looking pink which, for me, is almost a perfect match to my natural lip colour . Despite its sheerness it’s nicely pigmented, so I truly do get (and I hate to say it) a ‘my lips but better’ look. The formula is also incredibly glossy, but doesn’t slide off you lips straight away - an instant perk to any makeup look. In fact, I am yet to find an occasion or makeup look that this does not work for. The other wonderful thing about the colour is the tiny shimmer particles; I hate sparkly lipstick, but this is just noticeable enough to emphasise that gorgeous sheen on your lips.

For a lipstick that I wasn’t 100% sure about when I first got it, it has undoubtedly earned its way into my permanent collection. I think that I have enough to last me a while yet (touch wood!), but despite the hefty price tag I will definitely be repurchasing when this bad boy runs out.
