Bunch of Bronzers

The sun has been making an intermittent appearance here in the UK, and I can't say that I'm displeased. While many may be out soaking up the rays and enhancing their tans, for a number of reasons, the only tan that I will be sporting will be faux. The first place that I tend to notice that summer glow on other people is their face, but this year I am armed with a number of ways to fake it!

01 Benefit Hoola Bronzer This has been getting a lot of attention recently, but it's actually the longest-standing member of my collection and is still my only powder bronzer. This can be used to contour, or for an all-over instant face tan. Be warned, though: don't overdo it, or you WILL turn orange, and you WILL regret it. Powders are a really quick way of injecting a bit of colour into your face, and this one is nice and warm. But like I said, build it up gradually and it will treat you well.

02 Clarins Instant Smooth Self Tanner For years I'd heard about an amazing facial tanner from Clarins, and for years I'd been meaning to get it. After being sold the wrong thing around a year ago, this year I finally got my hands on one of their designated facial tanners. This one is a little like a thick, glossy mousse that you can wear under your makeup or alone. It's clear upon application, but darkens over time; ideal if you want a natural, virtually no coverage look. This is perfect for me, as I was really scared that I would mess up with my facial tanner and end up with a face resembling an orange. This is not the case at all! If you want to know more, then I have a full review here.

03 Origins Vitazing SPF 15 If you want some coverage as well as that glow, then Vitazing could be for you. What I love about this is that it comes out as a white liquid with little grey beads which break down when rubbed into your face and adapt to a colour a little darker than your skin tone. I love this stuff. I always reach for it when I want a super 'barely there' makeup, or if I want a thin base under my foundation. This can be fully washed off, so if you're a little hesitant about a longer-lasting faux bronze, you'll be in safe hands.

04 Bourjois Bronzing Primer I was eying up this bad boy for a long time before I finally brought it back to my makeup lair. This is another one which can be totally washed off, but I am a real fan of adding this underneath as well as over my makeup. What's so wonderful about this is that it's a bronzer, so it can be added as a contour or all over the face... but it's a creme! It's actually more like a whipped mousse, but it makes it so easy to blend and correct any mistakes that you may have made. Like Hoola bronzer, I would err on the side of caution, as that lovely warmth it adds to your face could easily turn into a tangerine party if you're not careful. Coming from a pale girl, though, it is my favourite contour method at the moment, and it's much easier to use than I anticipated. Oh, did I mention that it smells like chocolate?

Well, those are my four go-to bronzing buddies in a nutshell. I hope that this has eased your attitude towards getting that sun-kissed face if you were apprehensive before. And if you're still not sure, then rock that alabaster skin! Whatever you do, please remember to slather up in sunscreen this summer regardless of skin colour; they invented SPF for a reason!

Do you prefer to bronze it up or are you proud to be pale?
