The Briz Blog Meet // A Bristol Blogger's Event

It's been a crazy few weeks, but the past few months of planning and stressing expert organisation finally came to fruition on Sunday at the Briz Blog Meet. My boyfriend Phil and I had spent the last few months planning the event, where bloggers could meet and chat over some drinks.

We were lucky to be able to secure Vodka Revolutions as the venue; they had just had a refurbishment which gave it a lovely, modern-meets-cosy atmosphere. The events staff there also made the process really simple for us, it was so easy to call with any questions and they really did make everything pretty pain-free. Another process which ate up a lot of time in the planning was arranging the goody bags.

If you've ever been to a blogger meet then I think you'll know what I mean when I say that there's a lot of pressure in putting together the goody bags, as a lot of us have been spoiled with some pretty impressive ones in the past. I put a lot of time into emailing the relevant people to try and get together some lovely pressies for all of the attendees. Of course there's a lot more to organising an event than the goody bags, but I can go into more detail on that on another post if you like (not that I would consider myself an expert by any stretch...).

Before I knew it, it was just a couple of days before the event. We actually ended up with so many contributions to the goody bags that I had to get everything sent to my parents house because all of the boxes just wouldn't have fit in my little student flat. This meant that Phil and I spent two days leading up to the event at my parents' house making up 150 goody bags. That's right, three for each guest. It's a good job that my dad's car has a big boot otherwise I really don't know how we would have managed to get them all to the venue. Thanks Dad!.

Pre-event nerves aside, the actual day of the event went really well. Of course there were inevitably a few no-shows on the day which was a shame, but other than a couple of hiccups the day ran really smoothly. We had nearly forty bloggers all from a range of genres. It was a really rewarding feeling to meet people that I had read about and spoken to on Twitter in person. Even though I didn't get as much time as I wanted to talk to everyone individually it was great to catch up with old friends, and meet some new ones too!

It was lovely to be able to secure a couple of brands for the day, too. iamsociable. The company was founded by Natalia, who is quite the multitasker. She aims to help creatives to become more successful through helping them to run events, create an online media presence and more! She was there to offer the bloggers tips on branding their blogs, SEO and any other questions that they had. She certainly offered something unique to the event, and I for one picked up lots of new tips.

This leads us onto the goody bags. I was really pleased with the way that they turned out, and thought that there were some really great quality products included. Of course they would not have been possible without the help of some wonderful brands and great PRs (all of whom are listed above). I'm certainly looking forward to try out the products myself, so keep an eye out for some reviews soon!

I really want to express my gratitude to anyone who had any part to play in the event. To the people who helped me organise, put together the goody bags, calmed me when I started to get stressed out and of course came along: THANK YOU!
