New Year Resolutions // Beauty Blogger Edition

Happy New Year everyone!
I wanted to kick off 2014 with a few resolutions for the year to come. I'm not normally one to make resolutions, but blogging has become quite a big part of my life, so I thought it was worth setting myself some goals. I haven't really directly addressed this on my blog yet, but this will also be the year that I move to Europe for my third year of uni. While this is incredibly exciting and should allow for some amazing blogging opportunities, I also know that it's going to be a challenge to stay on track with my blog while I'm away. I love a challenge though, so hopefully I'll be able to look back on this post when I'm abroad for some motivation when I'm lacking.

01 Keep my posts varied
As 2013 went on I started to write exclusively about beauty. As much as I love this (and would still like to refer to this as a beauty blog) I think it would be lovely for it to evoke memories of things I did as well as things that I bought. I want this blog to be representative of my life in some small way, and I'm undeniably going to be going through a bit of a lifestyle change when I go to France, followed by Italy in a few months' time. It would be amazing to look back on this in years to come and experience little bits of my year abroad all over again. I'm getting excited just thinking about it!

02 Stick to a schedule
Despite all of the advice that I have read about blogging, it was only December of 2013 when I went about setting a planned schedule for my posts. I avoided doing this for so long because I thought that it would make blogging a chore, but it actually made it even more enjoyable! It took a lot of pressure off, and even with essay deadlines last month, I managed to maintain an average of three blog posts a week. This is something I want to try to continue, whether it be a post a week, or a post every other day like I'm doing now. This will allow me to spend more time on my posts and make sure that I'm really proud of my output.

03 Organise a blogger's event
This one is sort of cheating as I've already started to do this, but I'm in the process of sorting out a meetup in Bristol for bloggers to come along to at the end of February. Be sure to email me if you're interested in that one. This resolution can refer to other things too, though. Last year I got to meet a few other bloggers which was amazing fun. That's something I definitely want to continue to do this year, and embrace any opportunities that I can that blogging has brought me.

04 Constantly improve my blog
I took an evening to have a browse through some of my posts from the year, and I could really see the progress from month to month. I read something once that said 'If something's not growing then it's dying', and while I'm incredibly proud of my blog, there's still so much that I want to improve. This goal isn't really anything to do with anyone else, but more my own self pride. From my photography to my writing style, I know that I can do even better and I plan to always push myself to achieve more.

05 To be sat here doing exactly the same thing in 2015
Yep, pretty cheesy - but being able to trawl through more than a year's worth of posts and look at what I was doing a year ago has made me realise the sentimental value of blogging. I like the idea of being another year on, and having this post to reflect on, too, along with the next twelve months worth of posts to go with it!

I'm feeling very optimistic about the year to come, and can't wait to make it even better than the last. I really hope that this little blog will continue to document it along the way, too. I hope that you all had a fun time celebrating 2014 and that this year brings you even more joy and opportunities than the last!

Do you have any new year's resolutions?
