Blue Monday

It's here. Blue Monday is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year, according to studies. Christmas has left us skint, bills are piling up and it's not quite payday yet. Let's not even mention the horrendous weather that's sure to put a bee in anyone's bonnet (although as I write this the sun has decided to make an appearance...). I for one was definitely feeling down yesterday, so I came up with a little idea to raise my spirits.

Whatever you've been doing today, when you get home, why not go and put on your favourite blue item? This could be makeup, nail polish, a T-shirt, or even underwear! Blue is actually one of my favourite colours so I really enjoyed this challenge, and it really cheered me up. I opted for some simple nail art - well, it may look simple but it still took me a fair few attempts to get that line right! Regardless, it was still a bit of fun to cheer up a dreary January afternoon.

This look was created by using a navy blue base, and then using a small brush I painted a thin, silver line diagonally across my ring finger. To make this easier you can take some tape, make it a little less sticky by sticking it to your hand a few times, and then pop it across your nail as a guide for your line. I also wore my favourite blue rings to finish off the look - mine are from Primark and Pandora!

How have you cheered up your Blue Monday? Let me know in the comments!

I like what you've done with the silver stripe, it's simple and very effectful :o) Xx

This is such a great post, I have just decided to paint my toenails blue. (Nails Inc Baker Street if you were wondering.) Love the idea, I sometimes forget that blue can be so beautiful.

Ooh very nice! I might try and do my toes to match too.
I know! I love light blues in summer, but darker blues definitely get neglected a lot xx
