Christmas Nail Art // Pinspiration

You may remember a few weeks ago I started a little series called Pinspiration. This is where I take a beauty-related picture from Pinterest and create a similar look having taking inspiration from the original. Well, I haven't added another post to the series since the very first one and I thought that Christmas was the perfect time to do just that! Of course I had to go for something festive, but I didn't want to go too over the top, so I found this lovely picture with a red, gold and white theme which seemed just perfect.

I decided to change the colours about a bit, and I used a raspberry red on my middle finger (Exotic Liras by Essie) and then topped that with Pink Glitter Topcoat from No 7. This Essie colour is good as it looks opaque from just a single coat. The rose gold that I used on my thumb, index and little finger is Cosmo-not Tonight Honey by OPI (limited edition) and actually takes around three coats to become opaque. I think that this way round the colour scheme looks a little softer which I prefer. Next I put two coats of Blanc by Essie on my ring finger, and this was where it got a little tricky.

I used my Sephora dotting tool to put three pairs of big, red dots (once again using Exotic Liras) opposite on another in a circle shape - that's six dots in total. It's important that these dots bulge out a little, so that you can then take a small brush (from the Sephora Nail Art Set) and drag the colour out toward the centre of your imaginary circle, and over to the opposite dot. As you may be able to tell, I'm no professional and I probably could have done with a little more practice, but it looks cute all the same. You only notice the messy lines if you try to inspect it too closely! I wasn't quite brave enough to try a second snowflake on the same nail this time, perhaps when I'm a little better practised! I'd say that with the right tools then anybody could achieve this look! If I can manage it with my unsteady hand, I'm sure that you can too.

I hope that you're all having a magical Christmas Eve and have the best Christmas that you could wish for! Stuff yourselves silly with food and make sure that you take the opportunity to spend some quality with your loved ones. I will speak to you all on Boxing Day when I'll be back with a very special post indeed!

How are you wearing your nails this Christmas?
